The Friedberg Economics Institute, founded in 2013, is now entering its fifth year.  For the past four years, FEI has been doing two seminars annually – one in the Spring and one in the Fall – with the objective of exposing Israeli university students to the idea of economic freedom and understanding its relevance and importance to Israel.  After completing eight seminars, FEI now has a large community of alumni.  Beginning in 2018, we are chaining our format in order to better serve our community of alumni.  Rather than 2 seminars, FEI will do one seminar – in the Fall, October 7-11, 2018.  This will enable us to redirect resources to initiate a new ongoing lecture series for our alumni.

This year we brought to Israel Peter Wallison, Sr Fellow, Financial Policy Studies from the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, DC; Simeon Djankov, Director of the Financial Markets Group at the London School of Economics – and founder of the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Index; and Luigi Zingales, Professor of Entrepreneurship and Finance at the Booth School of Business, University of Chicago.

These lecturers were exclusive evening programs for FEI alumni in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.  However, while they were in Israel, we held daytime programs open to all students at various universities. We also had an exclusive event with Luigi Zingales and the “Globes” newspaper.
